Shahrzad Maydani

Shahrzad Maydani is an illustrator and storyteller currently living in Alameda, California. She was raised in Niger and Kenya by an Iranian mother and an English father, and spent her childhood collecting and telling stories. She now spends her days frantically making up worlds to keep herself and her two daughters happy. Shahrzad's upcoming picture book, BIRD BOY, written by Matthew Burgess, is the heartwarming story of a boy who learns to be true to himself at school while following his love of nature. Following BIRD BOY is FAT FRANCIS DISCOVERS POSSIBLE, written by Ashlee Latimer, which tells the story of a girl who overcomes body shaming with help from her father and their shared love for words.
