Melissa Crowton

Melissa Crowton is an illustrator and designer. Her first picture book, MOUSIE, I WILL READ TO YOU, written by Rachael Cole, was published in 2018. Inspired by the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation to read aloud to your children from the day they are born, it is a charming picture book that celebrates families reading together. In 2018, Melissa also illustrated a series of four GIRLS WHO CODE board books for Penguin as well as an 8-book novelty series for Nosy Crow in the U.K. In 2019, Melissa illustrated her next picture book, YOUR FIRST DAY OF CIRCUS SCHOOL, written by Tara Lazar. The clever, comical re-imagining of the classic "first day of school" story—with a circus twist—was praised as "an upbeat twist on this genre" by Kirkus. Most recently, Melissa illustrated THE KIDS ON THE BUS: A SPIN-THE--WHEEL BOOK OF EMOTIONS for Chronicle Books. The charming, singable, readable board book helps children identify emotions. Melissa's next board book, MEET YOUR SCHOOL!: WITH LIFT-THE FLAPS, is coming from Simon & Schuster in July. Her next picture book was written by award-winning, bestselling author Pat Zietlow Miller. IN OUR GARDEN, a classroom tale about students who create a vegetable garden on their school's rooftop, will publish in Spring 2022. Melissa ives in Utah.
