Mike Yamada

Mike Yamada is the proud illustrator of one of the late Amy Krouse Rosenthal's final stories, CHOO CHOO SCHOOLl. He is also the illustrator of a 4-book, vehicle themed series with Random House in their Step Into Reading series: GO, GO CARS!, GO, GO PLANES!, GO, GO TRACTORS!, and GO, GO TRUCKS! To date, GO, GO TRUCKS! is a bestseller—with more than 120,000 copies sold. Mike's most recent illustration project was THE PINK BOOK, written by New York Times bestselling author Diane Muldrow. It is the story of a spunky young girl who encourages readers to spot the different shades of pink in the real–and sometimes imaginary–world around her. When Mike isn't creating books for children, he also works as a concept designer, illustrator, and design consultant based in Pasadena, California. Mike has contributed to the development of many feature animations, including Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon, and Big Hero 6. Mike has a strong foundation in traditional sketching, graphite/charcoal tonals, and marker rendering.
