Tjitske Kamphuis

Tjitske (pronounced ‘Chitska’) Kamphuis is a self-taught landscape artist. Her unique process involves abstracting elements of nature into patterns and then developing more figurative and fully-realized scenes both within and around the patterns she creates. Her very favorite things to draw are the changing seasons and weather, the migration of birds and other animals, the shapes of clouds and trees, and overcast days. As an artist she finds joy in discovering ways to evoke the feeling of a place or moment. Tjitske grew up in the Netherlands, where she played in the countryside, cycling and boating along canals and looking after a large collection of pets and wild animals. Today she lives in the U.K. with her husband and twin sons.
