Kenard Pak

Kenard Pak is an award-winning author and illustrator. In the past two years, he has illustrated books written by two Newbery Medal-winning authors. One is Patricia MacLachlan's personal, poignant story of a beautiful red barn and the people who called it home. THE 100-YEAR BARN was a Bank Street Best Book of 2020. The other is Lois Lowry's ON THE HORIZON, a moving account of the lives lost in two of WWII’s most infamous events: Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima. ON THE HORIZON received many starred reviews and much critical acclaim. Kenard's own seasons-themed author/illustrator series is published by Macmillan. The SCBWI awarded Kenard the 2018 Golden Kite Award for GOODBYE AUTUMN, HELLO WINTER in the Picture Book Illustration category. Kenard is also the illustrator of MAUD AND GRANDMAUD by Sara O'Leary, 10 WAYS TO HEAR SNOW by Cathy Camper (an indie bestseller), THE DINNER THAT COOKED ITSELF by J. C. Hsyu, and THE FOG by Kyo Maclear. Kenard's most recent award was from the American Library Association, who named OHANA MEANS FAMILY, written by Ilima Loomis, a Notable Book of 2020. Kenard lives in San Francisco with his wife, their young daughter, and three cats.
