Brigette Barrager

Brigette Barrager is an award-winning, New York Times bestselling artist who has illustrated more than 20 children's books. She is best known for her growing UNI THE UNICORN series (with stories written by the late Amy Krouse Rosenthal and now her daughter, Paris). Brigette's HOW TO BE A PIRATE, written by Isaac Fitzgerald, was featured on The Today Show and received praise from some of the children's book industry's most admired bookmakers, including Jacqueline Woodson, Jon Scieszka, Roxane Gay, and Jason Reynolds. Brigette has recently authored two of her own picture books: VLAD THE RAD (inspired by her skateboard-loving husband) and WELCOME FLOWER CHILD: THE MAGIC OF YOUR BIRTH FLOWER (which received a star in the upcoming issue of School Library Journal). Brigette earned a degree in Character Animation from the California Institute of the Arts, where she teaches. Within her work, Brigette brings distinctive characters to life through her unique sensibilities in color, shape, and composition. She is always in search of stories that are both emotionally resonant and whimsical. Brigette lives and works in Los Angeles with her handsome husband Sean, a grumpy little dog, and two rascally gray kitties.
