Korwin Briggs

Korwin Briggs is a writer and illustrator who makes comics, infographics, and books about academic stuff like history and science. He’s the author of the webcomic, Veritable Hokum. In 2018, Korwin made his children's book author/illustrator debut when Workman published his GODS AND HEROES: MYTHOLOGY AROUND THE WORLD. Featuring more than 70 characters from 23 cultures around the world, the A-to-Z encyclopedia of mythology is a who's who of powerful gods and goddesses, warriors and kings, enchanted creatures and earthshaking giants whose stories have been passed down since the beginning of time—and are now given fresh life for a new generation of young readers. In 2019-2020, Korwin's own original 4-title picture book series, THE INVENTION HUNTERS, was published by Little Brown. In a glowing star review, Kirkus raved: "Like David Macaulay and Captain Underpants, this routinely silly, genuinely intelligent deep dive into engineering basics leaves kids as informed as they are amused." Most recently, Korwin illustrated pediatric physician Christine Virnig's DUNG FOR DINNER. From Roman charioteers scarfing wild boar dung, to astronauts guzzling their own pee, to today's kids spreading insect vomit on their toast, the humorous compendium is chock-full of history, science, and fascinatingly gross facts. "Get ready to gulp!" raved Booklist. Korwin's upcoming books are also gulp-worthy: WAIST DEEP IN DUNG and A HISTORY OF UNDERWEAR WITH PROFESSOR CHICKEN will be published in early 2022. Korwin works as a professional freelance artist in New York.
