Louis Thomas

Louis Thomas studied at Gobelins in Paris and then at Calarts in Los Angeles. Subsequently, he worked in animation in California for several years before returning to France. Louis's author debut, HUG IT OUT, was published in 2017. School Library Journal called the fresh and funny take on the consequences faced by two sparring siblings "bound to delight a wide audience." In 2018, Louis illustrated two titles authored by David Goodner, starring a little adorable and persistent goblin named Ginny. Of the second title in the series, Kirkus raved in a starred review: "The art perfectly complements the imaginative, absurd text. Ginny is becoming a symbol of toddler power." Louis's second author work, THE MUSIC OF LIFE, was published in 2020. A simple, melodious picture book about finding big inspiration and beauty in the smallest of details, it was quickly selected by Amazon's editors as one of their most highly recommended books. It was also praised as "lively and stimulating" (Kirkus), "a fine choice for budding artists" (BCCB), "a fine choice for budding young artists" (School Library Journal), and "a lovely lesson on the wonders that await when one simply stops to notice" (Booklist). Later in 2020, Louis illustrated Tiffany Stone's SILLI'S SHEEP, the endearing story of a man named Silli who tries to tame the wind in ridiculous ways. "Fresh and funny," raved Kirkus, in a glowing starred review. Today, Louis lives and works with his cat Pipo in his art studio—which can be found between the Pantheon and the Luxembourg Gardens.
