Tjitske Kamphuis

Based in Canterbury, U.K., Dutch illustrator Tjitske Kamphuis creates stylized artwork rich in detail and pattern. Primarily working in Procreate, she employs a distinctive eraser-drawing technique to create negative space, often using a single brush to achieve a simple and cohesive aesthetic. As a newcomer to the children’s book industry, Tjitske draws inspiration from renowned illustrators like David McKee and Leo Lionni, while experimenting with her own unique style across her first three contracted books.

Tjitske’s passion lies in illustrating landscapes and animals, and she devotes significant time to research and sketching before creating her final illustrations.

When not making art, she enjoys traveling around the U.K. and Europe by train and hiking with her teenage sons and husband.
