Aki portrait

French artist Aki is the illustrator of such vibrant picture books as The Weather Girls—a nostalgic, Madeline-inspired nod to modern day feminism, which she also wrote, and is the pioneer title in a four-book series—and Baby’s First Eames, a playful introduction to her passions for design and architecture. Her 10 Little Ducklings (written by Lucy Rowland) won the U.K.'s 2025 BookTrust Storytime Prize, recognizing it as the best book of the year to share with children under five years old. Her colorful, minimalist illustrations balance modern humor with classic elegance, earning praise from critics as "charming, lively, and bright."

Working in both digital and traditional media, Aki begins with notebook sketches and lets each story unfold naturally. She gravitates towards projects that mix humor with a touch of fantasy, drawing inspiration from Roald Dahl, Tomi Ungerer, and Sempé.

Born in Paris and now based in Berlin, Aki finds joy in cooking, knitting, reading to her children, and spending time with her sisters.
