Seattle-based author-illustrator Amy Hevron creates her distinctive, whimsical art by painting with acrylic on wood or Bristol paper, layering in pencil sketches and tracing-paper elements, then collaging everything together digitally. Her textured style has been praised as distinctly original, with a sweet simplicity that blends humor and learning.
Drawing on her love of nature, Amy's nonfiction picture books—including the six-title Tiny Habitats series—invite young readers to discover the marvels of the natural world up close. Log Life, the first book in the series, received a 2025 Pacific Northwest Book Award. She also delights in fantasy, from talking animals to imagined adventures, and is currently at work on her first middle-grade novel.
When she's not making books, Amy enjoys hiking, bird-watching, baking biscuits, and exploring tide pools on the Washington coast in search of tiny ocean creatures.
