In books such as The Pink Hat and Love Was Inside, Australian author-illustrator Andrew Joyner cleverly transforms current events into stories that are both engaging and accessible for young children. His mixed-media cartoon illustrations—full of exuberance, humor, and warmth—also bring to life collaborations with award-winning Australian authors, including Ursula Dubosarsky and Jane Godwin. His work is published in more than 25 countries and has found wide international success.
In 2018, Andrew was invited to create the art for Dr. Seuss’s Horse Museum, a project based on an unfinished manuscript by the legendary Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss). The opportunity to blend his own imagination with such a historic legacy was deeply rewarding, and the book went on to become a #1 New York Times bestseller.
Andrew is currently balancing several new book projects alongside a large mural commission for the State Library of his native South Australia, where he lives with his family in a small country town.
