Melbourne, Australia-based illustrator Marc Martin’s art is distinguished by vibrant worlds of color, rich textures, and the occasional playful scribble. By combining watercolor, pencil, and collage, he creates lush, emotive paintings that universally captivate with their depth and luminosity. Marc is a two-time recipient of the highly selective New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Book Award, for his self-authored A River in 2017 and We Are Starlings by Donna Jo Napoli and Robert Furrow in 2023. While he remains passionate about bringing his own stories to life and illustrating for other authors, he is currently exploring an even more playful approach in some of his forthcoming children’s book art.

When not immersed in his creative work, Marc likes to spend quality time with family and friends, travel in search of new adventures, and he especially enjoys a bicycle ride on a sunny day.
