Olivier Tallec is a celebrated French illustrator known for creating charming, witty, and emotionally resonant books. Critics commend his talent for capturing the subtle dramas and joys of childhood through expressive imagery. His artwork invites close observation and thoughtful reflection, gently tugging at heartstrings.
Olivier delights in creating stories filled with imperfect, sometimes annoying, yet deeply human characters. Although occasionally inspired by current events, he strives to craft books that are truly in tune with the world children inhabit, consciously steering clear of moralizing narratives.
Working primarily with gouache, acrylic, and pencils, Olivier’s favorite projects are humorous ones. Two books of which he is especially proud are It’s My Tree and En Attendant Les Barbares (Waiting for the Barbarians).
Olivier creates in his studio overlooking the rooftops of Paris, and when not working there, he can be found by the ocean in Brittany.
