Drawing has always been a passion for Dresden, Germany-based Dudolf, but becoming a children’s book illustrator was a fortunate “accident.” In 2015, he became an immediate internet sensation when his seek-and-find puzzle cartoon, challenging people to spot a panda amongst a backdrop of smiley snowmen, went viral on social media—transforming his career.
Dudolf creates clean, playful art, primarily using digital tools and adding occasional ink and colored pencil elements. He specializes in humor and infotainment, crafting books he hopes are both educational and enjoyable for kids.
One of his favorite activities is inventing original characters and realizing their stories, such as his humorous Piggle the Pig series, inspired by his own personal experiences and anxieties. He also enjoys illustrating works by other authors, such as Beth Ferry, with whom he created the Fox & Rabbit early reader graphic novel series. The duo are currently collaborating on a new picture book character, Turtle with a Toolbox. Always brimming with ideas, Dudolf has already sketched out an original bear character and hopes to bring more comics to life. Known for working quickly and collaboratively, he is equally excited to help realize books for other authors.
When he’s not working, Dudolf treasures time with his wife, their son, and the family’s pet bunnies. He also finds joy in playing guitar, hiking, reading, exploring new foods, and visiting the greenest places he can find.
